The next storm arrived

We had decided a few weeks ago that we really should update our wills as Nick was much younger when we did the previous ones. Sadly today was the day we had an appointment to sort it out so we had to drive into Penzance, with the wind already gusting around 50mph and park the car.  We walked up Morrab Road with the wind almost pushing us over - but on the way back around 30 minutes later it was raining and we could hardly walk back to the car.
The sea was already looking angry - but that was nothing compared with what was to come this evening
I usually try to take a shot from the car when Jim is driving down the Penzance bypass - today I had to try to take a shot when the windscreen wipers were down - not an easy matter
As you can see it was already pretty wild out there.
Since then the storm really arrived we've had numerous short power cuts and eventually it went off and hasn't come back on - I'm using the lap-top and Vodaphone dongle.
We've had storm force wind - force 10- the biggest gust on Lands End Weather was 87.5mph with torrential rain and it was quite scary as the big three part patio doors looked as though they were going to burst into the room.  Still quite wild out there, but not quite as bad.
I gather from the Falmouth Packet online, that there are blocked roads everywhere due to fallen trees  - including the A30 and A394 Helston road in 2 places.

  1. I hope you are both safe. Don't think it would be too comfy down at Whithey Cottages at least you are in land a little. Hate to think how messy the windows are. They've just said there are gusts of up to 92 miles on the Scillies on the news and the line to Penzance is closed due to major damage. My thoughts are with you all and praying that you are all safe and that the village is ok

    1. Power back on at 11-40pm just in time to warm the house up before bed.
I'm sure that Withey Cottage will be fine, will have a look down there when I get up in the morning.
Jim has just taken the dogs down to the garden and said that the poor little propped up palm has gone - and he means gone, couldn't see it anywhere.
Never had anything quite as violent as that and friend Mike who was born in Mousehole hadn't either.
