I was looking up through the beautiful bright green leaves on this Beech Tree and noticed that above the green they were copper
Walking a little further we could see that it was in fact one tree - we were told that it was an "apprentice tree" - as in a gardener/plantsman proving that he could graft the Copper Beech onto a green leaved Beech tree. Sadly it is very old and the top is gradually dying.
A pity that more Rhododendrons were not planted as it would make for a wonderful spectacle alongside the Bluebells
We then walked back alongside Parc Lye and made our way down to the valley below
Really beautiful ! All that colour everywhere it's like a tonic on a very grey morning ! Did yuo see Springwatch is coming from Minsmere ? I don't know if you have ever visited lovely area. I must admit I miss Bill Oddie as a presenter I liked the Bill and Kate team !! ReplyDeleteVery grey morning here as well - rather wet - and the boiler has failed to come on, so it's rather chilly in the lounge, Wooster & Tilly will be demanding hot water bottles soon !
DeleteRead on one of the bird websites that Springwatch was going to be at Minsmere - never been, but should be good place for it - I agree about Bill Oddie - a bit like Jeremy Clarkson - not letting what he's going to say pass through his brain first ! Sue
