Good news for a change !

Wonderful news this morning The bid for almost £2 million of Government funding to repair and rejuvenate Penzance's iconic Jubilee Pool has been successful.

  1. That is very good news about the grant for the Jubilee Pool. I think I signed an online petition a while back, so glad to see things slowly happening. The flowers in your previous posts are maddeningly colourful. It truly makes me feel more serene looking at all those plants... while here the drought gets worse as it is very hot and uncomfortable sleeping weather. I bet the tea was delicious. One of the things I enjoy most is going to an open garden and getting the tea afterwards. I love British baking!

    1. It sure was good news about Jubilee Pool - there was also money for the SW Coastal Path as there are many areas where it was damaged or destroyed - a million pounds sounds a lot, but there's a lot to do !
When we were first here in Perran they had an Open Gardens day when lots of the gardens - big or small were open and a trail was all around the village - sadly we had the builders in at the time. There was then a lunch or tea in the wonderful walled garden of Churchtown House (next to the little Church Room) It really was a super day and raised money for the Church Room renovation - now finished. The big treat was to see the various stunning views from the gardens.
Saw TV coverage of the massive flood from a broken water main over there - just what you needed in a drought. Scilly introduced a hosepipe ban yesterday - as the de-salination plant is not producing as much as they hoped. They have bore holes as well, but there is obviously too much being used.
