Saturday - Purple & yellow Porthgwarra

Having seen a photo of the heather that was blooming on Scilly I realised that it must also be out at Porthgwarra, so this morning we set off - even though it was a little cloudier than the forecast had predicted
When we arrived it was fine and sunny and stayed that way all day - and as you can see the Heather was spectacular !

One of the few areas we saw that had more Gorse than Heather

Really was at its best !

When we came in May, this was a pond with a bog all around it - today it is all bone dry
 Like a fairytale footpath

More of the Gorse had survived in this section

    1. We were so thrilled as we drove down the little winding lane that leads to Porthgwarra to see all the colour - so pleased we went, would have been a pity to get there when they were past their best.

  2. We've never seen such colour with the heather down in your area. Have to see if we can make it down there at this time next year.

    1. Usually still lots of colour in September Gaynor - think it's early this year due to the warm Spring and hot Summer. It really is wonderful to see it like that ! Sue
