The Falmouth Lifeboat keeping an eye on the proceedings
Not sure why the tug used its hose - but it looked good
This was the moment that we realised that the morning cruise ship we had seen was not Saga Sapphire because here she was.

Not sure when or where the actual start was but it must have been soon after this as we walked the dogs after packing the car. It was a rather slow exit from the farm in the long queue and then all through Mawnan Smith, but soon we were on the main road back to Helston & home
Looks like the weather cooperated and it was a fantastic sight. I don't think I've ever seen so many boats and ships in the bay. I expect some of my Mawnan neighbours were out there. Well done to be in the front row and to be organised with the bacon rolls.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there were loads of people from Mawnan there - I think many had walked - very sensible as I gather later in the morning in was gridlock. The people in the cvar next to us lived in Budock, so they hadn't come far.
DeleteOn Spotlight they said it was thought there might have been 1,000 little boats out there - certainly looked like it - looked like chaos, but they all managed to keep far enough away from the biger boats that were under sail - one or two horns blaring but nothing major. I now see that they are in fact only racing to the Isle of Wight - thefirst ones are just arriving now.
