We walked down to Newlyn and went along to visit the RNLI Lifeboat Ivan Ellen that was open to visitors as well today
 The Inshore Lifeboat Paul Alexander
I had a quick look around the outside, but it was really full inside with lots more people arriving
Jim was holding onto the dogs whilst I explored
Then back round to the Boathouse where there was an exhibition of all sorts of lifeboat memorabilia and photographs

Below are some of the photographs telling the stories of the brave men of the RNLI Penlee
I'm pretty sure that it was in fact The Warspite - that foundered originally at Prussia Cove not Warsprite

Really good exhibition of the old photographs and many thanks to all those who worked so hard to make today such a success

  1. That is a poignant comment of yours about the slides awaiting the boat that never returned. It is good that such bravery is not forgotten.

    1. Something I really love about the area is the great respect given to both the past and present Lifeboatmen/women
Something that brought a lump to my throat was seeing a visitng RNLI Lifeboat that was calling into Newlyn en-passage stop for a moment the Old Penlee Boathouse to have a moments reflection about those who gave their lives, before continuing to Newlyn.
