We were hoping for a dry and sunny day today, but this was what greeted me this morning
We decided that since there was a lot less wind and quite a lot of sun, we'd go to Porthleven for the Food & Drink Festival.
We parked up at the top of Loe Bar Road and took the dogs for a walk along the Penrose trail
The sun was shining onto the old engine houses & chimneys of the Trewavas Mine
This one is for Jim - his first sighting in 2016 of a Skylark which is his favourite bird - you can just make out the open beak as it sang on it's way up high
The zig zag path that takes us down onto the old road
Seal just lazing around
Just couldn't resist this one as we walked down towards Porthleven
Really quite pleasant in the sun
Airstream burger bar !
Looking back down the inner harbour
We then walked up to the Old Lifeboat Studio
To look at the wonderful photographs of Carla Regler as well as some very old photographs of Mount's Bay wrecks
Sorry, didn't quite get the angle right - this is my favourite - St Michael's Mount and The Milky Way - quite stunning - I'm afraid I just bought a couple of cards - but a super exhibition of Carla's work
The bridge linking the two sides of the harbour - just for the festival
Oh Dear ! took this one of Wooster enjoying the scene - then noticed the giveaway sugar on his lovely black ear - Yes ! I was weak and had 3 doughnuts. Jim had a Cinnamon pancake
Not sure what to say - didn't see him move
Converting old vehicles into food bars of one kind or another seems to be the in thing - this one was really rocking - good music & cocktails
Another original
We walked along the outer harbour
Loved the waves and the colours
Happy memories of the holidays we spent in the little cottage to the right.
Royal Navy Sea King
Looking right across Mount's Bay
Back to the car to drop off our jackets and then we took the dogs back along the start of the walk towards Penrose
More cloud to the East, but we had lots of lovely blue sky
Sadly this was where my battery gave up and the spare was in my jacket in the car !
Just after sunset - the air was so clear the sun was far too bright !
I turned around and saw this lovely moon
What a great post Sue! So many lovely and varied photos of your visit to Porthlevin. I enjoyed them all. Looking at those pretty colours and gentle waves it's hard to believe how very different it can look in wild stormy weather!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunset sky and gorgeous moon!
Hope all well with you and Jim and the doggies.
The colours were amazing in Porthleven - sadly we were wearing our Winter coats, although the sun was shining and there was little wind the air is coming from the North so it has been much colder than normal at this time of year. We are hoping for warmer weather soon ! We're both more or less recovered from our virus's - both still coughing in windy weather, so hoping it styas nice and calm. Tilly seems recovered from her Bladder infection, but the vet has given her a longer course of treatment this time. Sue
