and finally - advice needed - want to save the seed heads of these - do I leave them until they have dried out then cut them off ?
I usually cut them (once the petals have dropped) leaving stems around a foot long tie them together and put them heads down in a brown paper bag.I then hang the bag in the garage for them to dry out.Rightly or wrongly this method works for me!Thanks for the daily Cornish fix.macca.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for the info ladies. Since it's suddenly got rather windy today, I've cut the first batch and will hang them to dry - lots more still to come ! Sue
DeleteAgree with the above comment from Macca, although I do sometimes keep them on the plant and let them dry, just keep your eye on the weather, high winds and rain don't do them any good obviously, they do look lovely in the winter time when they get a bit of frost on them. Hope the physio went well and you are making steady progress, no doubt some days better than others. Seeing that wild flower meadow at Godolphin must have been a delight, I am hoping to be able to walk to the Poppy fields at Heligan, finding it so frustrating, but you know the feeling well. Take care, thank you to Mr. M for all the wonderful photo's.
