Fine morning with the bitter wind now from the West
We'd had an early start as the guys from Expert Trees were coming to remove the broken branch in the Cedar Tree that had been squeaking and swinging around for many months
Cedars grow in a strange way - with the branches twisting around others - hence the fact that the broken one had not fallen any further
Really pleased it's done
Unusual vessel crossing the bay - Fishery Research vessel Tridens, stopping off in Mount's Bay on its way to Cork
First Aubretia I've seen flowering
As we walked down Boat Cove Lane the wind was really bitter and little Maisie was squealing away as she hates it, so we just did a short circuit
It was beginning to look very grey
We were pleased to be on our way home
Just catching up on your blog, and noting the changeable weather you have had. From that very warm weather you had which was way warmer than us, and then through the last two storms. We have had so much rain, but the ground now feels squishy instead of rock hard so a good sign for my veggie beds and the garden shrubs.
ReplyDeleteI was amazed at how obedient Wooster is when he came across the sick bunny. I am sure with many other dogs, that bunny's life would have ended chop, chop! Did you have to train him, or is it innate for pointers to seek and then hold off awaiting further instruction? At any rate, he is a lovely boy, and Maisie and he keep you two fit with your walks.
We will be over in about a month or so, and I am hoping the primroses and bluebells will still be around. There is nothing I enjoy more than a walk through the Carlidnack woods down to Maenporth when the bluebells are carpeting the ground - it does wonders for the spirit! I am also looking forward to seeing my neighbour who just turned 88 years old, although I did have a long phone call with her a couple of days ago to moan about Trump, Brexit and to catch up on village news.
Wooster is a sweetie, we've always tried to use the word leave when they spot wildlife and since Tilly was so good and well behaved I think Wooster just copied her. Pointers are supposed to just hunt and point - then flush on command - pheasants/grouse etc and then the guns would deal with them - then the retrievers got to work. English Pointers don't retrieve but German ones do - bigger and stronger. Whole country is in a mess here with parliament not doing what the majority wanted but we all hope it will sort itself out. See Mr Trump has stuck his oar in today - we really needed that he he ! Hopefully you will have Primroses to see, not sure about Bluebells. Bye for now. Sue
