We then drove around the back of Porthleven to get to Loe Bar Road. We parked and walked along the footpath - which used to be a road before a big cliff fall many years ago.
Along the coast to the West of Porthleven the Engine Houses for Wheal Trewavas Mine, perched precariously on the cliffs

Looks like a lovely day. Can't imagine how the miners must have felt having to trek home up that steep hill after a shift down the mine!

The miners were indeed very tough - there are lots of old mines perched on cliffs like these and of course many of these families went on the treacherous journey to Australia hoping for a better life !
