A morning in Penzance

After a very wet and windy start to the day it really improved - here is the Harbour in Penzance with an incomming tide
A sign of things to come - I'm sure that this kind of Car Park ticket machine has been around for ages "up country" but this is the first one I've seen - you have to put your registration number in using that tiny keypad - to stop you passing the ticket on to someone else when you're leaving - I know it was cheating, but it was only a little cheat !    There seems to be only one of them at the moment - but I'm sure that as they need to replace them more will appear ! I'll have to take my reading glasses  just to get a ticket  !  Thankyou Cornwall Council !

    1. Must admit Keith I did feel like standing there and shouting a bit - parking in Pz is so strange - I parked at the top of Causewayhead - 50p for 2 hours yet down at the Harbour it a lot more - fleece the tourists time ! Sue

  3. How sad to see this machine in Penzance. Was so refreshing to come down to Cornwall with its distinct lack of them ! Lots of them in Wales. Most irritating is they dont give change, so most folk end up overpaying. Nice little earner for the councils ! Glad we come down in the winter months when we usually get roadside parking in Pz. 1. I gather that it is only for the 30 minute area - I assume more might follow ! I also gather that Cornwall Council are eyeing over lots of places where people can park without paying and trying to work out how to make em pay !

  4. Sue,

This is the very machine we were telling you about when we were down.

    1. Sorry didn't realise it was a new one that you were talking about - I gather it is only there for the 30minutes area - I was just shocked to see it - don't get out much at the moment ! Sue

  5. Sue,

It was in the long stay bit for sure. It costs less to park outside work all day 15 minutes from Edinburgh City centre than a couple of hours in the car park at Penzance - and we don't need to give our registration number!

  6. Well when I saw the picture of this ticket machine it made me chuckle... My sister and I tried to purchase a ticket from it twice before going to the fish shop, and twice it took our money without issuing a ticket! we eventually left a note on the windscreen explaining.
I kept most of my car park tickets throughout our 2 week stay in beautiful Cornwall, I could have bought a ticket machine!
