Stormy Monday

Well, we're still here ! The wind woke us up at around 6am and we're still clinging on in Perranuthnoe, wind has gusted at and around 59mph - feels like more than that, windows shaking and glass bending and even roof tiles clanking every now and then
I had thought that the worst of the rain had passed, but apparently not !
Just coming up to 11.30am
The heaviest rain is now up-country and hopefully we can see the end of this lot ! Just checked XC weather forecast and they're saying that the wind will continue to gust between 50 and 60mph until after midnight - Oh good !
Wrong again - the rain continues (9.40pm) and we've had more very big gusts of wind since I wrote the above.
The forecast for Friday and next Sunday is also similar to today - dear oh dear !
The dogs have just about made it into the garden for a "comfort stop" but obviously no walkies this morning
Can't open the patio doors to get a photo at the moment, so here's a photo of Marazion from the Mount's Bay Sailing Club webcam

  1. Hello Sue, good that you're not venturing outside today. Not had it too bad in Cardiff, very wet though and lots of standing water on the roads apparently.
Hope you all have a very Happy Christmas and a good 2014. Jane.

    1. Huge amount of rain here - and at 7-40pm it's still smashing on the window.
When I drove down the lane to Perran it was a mass of brown water - flowing off the fields and eventually down to the beach.
After a max. gust of 61mph the wind had been dropping off again - but it's on the way back up as this heavy rain passes and it's due to rain until around midnight - hope the dogs can hold on that long !
      Have a lovely Christmas. Sue

    1. Oh dear, do hope the missing Americans turn up safe and sound.
We've had a power cut for around 5 hours, but it came on in time for dinner !

    1. The piece of fence with the broken post has collapsed onto the garden - it's only post & rail with the wind fence tacked onto it - so not too much of a problem. One or two tiles have been lifting, but they usually drop back into place. Power cut for several hours, but came on again at 6pm - rain still smashing onto the window - might be finished by midnight ! Hope the dogs can hang on until then !
      Have a lovely Christmas. Sue

  4. Oh dear, that looks awful! Glad you've finished your main shopping!
Hope all the tiles etc. stay attached and by the time you read this the wind has subsided.
Thank you for all the time you take to bring us such beautiful photos of your lovely corner of Cornwall. Just love your beautiful header.
Have a wonderful Christmas Sue and Jim and your son too. Hope the dogs get out for their walks soon. Look forward to many more days of gorgeous views.
Great to meet you this year:)
    Your Aussie friend. Betty

    1. We'll survive Betty, it's all calmed down a bit now - thank goodness, sadly others are in a much worse state, either unable to get home for Christmas at nthe moment or flooded etc so I really shouldn't complain.
Got lots of jobs to do tomorrow that I couldn't do today - we rely on electricity so much here.
Do hope that you have a wonderful Christmas with your family and we'll keep taking the photos as we walk the dogs as we love the thought that so many people enjoy seeing them. Sue & Jim
