The lighting of the Christmas Tree - Well ! it was Friday 13th

An unexpected heavy shower timing it's arrival right at the gathering around the tree
As we walked up the villlage towards the tree, a massive gust of wind almost knocked us over
and this was follwed by more wind and then rain.  As the Vicar prepared to bless the tree - if you look to the right of the photo you can see the rain in the streetlight.
We carried on in the rain and wind, with the tree all lit up, we sang carols and Father Christmas arrived - sadly I was almost knocked over in the rush of parents and children, so no photo of the "Man of the Moment"
As quickly as it arrived the wind and rain stopped - too late for our photography !
Here is the cross on the top of the Church tower
Sadly both our cameras suffered from rain on the lenses, so here one with a cleaned lens
Ah well ! there's always next year !

  1. It looks lovely in spite of the rain. We went to Durgan one year and just as Father Christmas stepped out of the boat, a stingingly cold rain started. A good excuse though to have some mulled wine.

    1. Yes, most people beat a hasty retreat to The Victoria as soon as Father Christmas had arrived - such a pity as both before and after the weather was fine, just bad timing for the sudden slow moving shower with the gusts of wind. When we got home the wheely bins had blown over and the dogs discovered the bird feeder lying on the lawn.
