We set off up the A 30 on Sunday to travel to Werrington Park near Launceston (only a couple of miles from Woosters birthplace !) for the bi-annual Countryman's Fair.
As usual I got the camera ready as we approached the China Clay Hills around St Austell - it started to rain, but the wipers cleared it away for just long enough for me to get a few shots of these iconic mounds that are another part of Cornwall's history.
Although the light wasn't great it actually brought out the layers of hills far more than other photos I've taken - Have to say my Panasonic FZ100 managed to get these travelling at 70mph downhill through a wet windscreen - not bad !
The forecast was not just bad but had a weather warning for such heavy rain as to make driving conditions dangerous. As we drove through Launceston the sky was black and the rain torrential, so we stopped at the super Garden Centre cafe that we found when looking at Wooster for the first time.
Really wish we had somewhere like this locally - the cafe was packed hardly a seat to be had and it's quite large - and the Sunday Lunch they were bringing out at only £4.99 looked delicious - although we only had a coffee & cake. We bought a bag of dog food and walked through the other units which have a food hall, shoes and handbags and an aquatics centre that has a display of some of the best garden statues and water feature I've ever seen - and I've seen lots !
